The Italian Cultural Institute of Tunis is at the centre of a rich programme of Dantean events organized for the XXI Week of the Italian Language in the World.

On 18 October, there will be a presentation of ‘Paolo e Francesca, oltre il mito’ (Paolo and Francesca, Beyond the Myth), by Raimondo Fassa, Italian language assistant at Manouba University, broadcast on the Institute’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. A lesson devoted to the famous episode of Canto V of Hell. Onn 19 October, on the same channels, there will be the seminar ‘Dante, l’italiano. Esperienze a confronto’ (Dante the Italian: Experiences compared), with Raffaele Campanella, Meriem Dhouib and Silvia Finzi.

On 20 October, at the Institute and online, three experts on Dante will hold a discussion moderated by Professor Hammadi Agrebi: Gian Domenico Mazzocato will illustrate the ‘question of language’ in Dante; Mohamed Emir Beldi and Angela Forin will talk about the ‘enchantment’ of Dante’s work, particularly through music.

On 21 October, live streamed on Facebook and YouTube, there will be the presentation of the third edition of the ‘Giornata dello Studente di Lingua Italiana’ (Italian Language Students’ Day) conceived by Professor Sara D’Isanto, under the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy in Montréal and organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Tunis. On the same day, there will be the conference ‘Dante, questo sconosciuto’ at the Institut Superieur des Langues de Tunis (Université de Carthage), dedicated to Dante’s formative years, his years in exile, and the critical success of his work.

On 22 October, the Institute’s Facebook page will host the experimental projectOmbre’ (Shadows), three short films by expert directors, in homage to the Supreme Poet: a scenographic polyphony of the body, Dantean verses and sound.

The festival will conclude on 23 October at the Centre des Arts Dramatiques et Scéniques de Sfax with a round table chaired by Hichem Said, on the subject of classic Italian cinema.
