The last Holocene hunter-gatherers and the study of the Neolithic transition in Tunisia

The project aims to understand the transformation dynamics of the last Capsian hunter-gatherer societies and neolithisation in the eastern Maghreb up to the peopling processes of the Punic period. The activities will be directed towards the continuation of the excavation of the Neolithic village of Doukanet el Khoutifa (6th-5th millennium B.C.), the necropolis associated with it and the investigation of the Punic settlements (1st millennium B.C.) in the Capo Bon area.
