‘Land of Nineveh Regional Archaeological (ProjectPARTeN)’.

The PARTeN project, started in 2012, led by Prof. Daniele Morandi Bonacossi, is a broad multi- and interdisciplinary research project to reconstruct the formation and evolution of the cultural and natural landscape of a crucial region of northern Mesopotamia straddling the provinces of Nineveh (Mosul) and Dohuk (northern Iraq) between the Palaeolithic age and Islamic period and to guarantee innovative forms of documentation, enhancement and protection. The research is based on a regional surface reconnaissance and archaeological excavations in Gir-e Gomel.
